  • Refraction?

When I activate the refraction inside an imported VrayMtl Shader from max.. my shader just turns black.
Is the refraction not supported yet for realtime?

It works in the raytracer.. but inside the unreal.. the shader just turns black!

    thanks for clarification!
    cheers

    Hi, Bernhard

In order to have refractive material inside Unreal you need to change the Blend Mode in the Material Property Override section in the editor to Alpha Composite.

This is a specific Unreal thing for optimization purposes. To put it simply materials that are solid should be set to Opaque and transparent/refractive ones should be set to Translucent, AlphaComposite(same as translucent but with better reflections) or Masked(used when opacity mask is black and white without grey values). Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Alexander
