  • VrayScene from Maya? (and compatibility questions)

    Hello,

I could get a VrayScene from 3dsMax working.
(it imports everything in single pieces, but it works)

I did also a test with an human eye as a vrscene from Maya.
This did not work. The same scene loaded into 3dsMax worked.

    - Is there a limitation in UE4 for Maya vrscenes?

    - Which else are the general known limitations: are all kinds of materials like VrayfastSSS, Blendmaterial compatible in vray UE4?

    - Do I have to bake all input maps also for vrayScenes? (texture compositing nodes, ramps etc. when imported as vrscene)

    Thanks

    Hi BeneZ

As a general workflow for the moment we recommend to bake complex inputs and have simple materials where possible of course. You can check here in the docs about the supported features:Supported Features. If the shading graph of the material is complex or has procedural textures(noise, fresnel, color corrections, composites, etc.) they will be skipped on import.

    Best regards,
    Alexander

      Thanks,
so I will test from Maya again.

Is there a way from 3dsMax to bake higher maps than 2k (the 2k baking was shown in your tutorial)?
