  • Material Override?

I am wondering, if I would like to replicate the Vray Material Override, for the Reflection of the Environment.

    Is this possible within Unreal?
And if so, how would the nodes look like?

I am talking about this wonderful option, where you can change the reflection map of your material.
And it will consider the hdri or map you plugged into that slot.

I haven't been able to re-produce this within Unreal.

    Thanks for any little help,
    appreciate it!

    Hi bernhard,

You want to reproduce this with UE materials with or without V-Ray? With V-Ray you can try using the VRaySettingsEnvironment override. However, that cannot be set per material, it's globally applied and doesn't work well when there is a skylight in the scene currently. i am not aware if you can replace the reflection from inside UE materials and if this is possible at all. There is a way to add a cubetexture and mix it with other inputs inside the material(https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1do53...We-5tH1lDGyHIl) and make it look like there is another reflection but not override the true reflection.

    Best regards,
    Alexander

Thank you Alexander, that kinda makes sense. Yes, I wanted to reproduce without Vray Materials. After importing a datasmith scene, and re-creating materials.
