I don’t think my current power will work. There two cables going to my current card and two other power hanging loose. The first photo is a yellow/black cable coming out of my power supply and down to my video card. The second photo shows the yellow/black power from above going into my card with a second one coming from under the card. The other two power wires are loose. Although there are two in my card and two loose, it looks like one of the cords plugged in is larger than the other three; I could be wrong.

Here is a card, but by looking at the power it needs, I am missing the 8 pin. I have 2- 6 pins loose. My current card looks to be using 2- 8 pins.

Good news! 1300W Power supply. At least, that's what the sticker says on the back of the computer, outside the power supply.Bobby Parker

35% faster than the 1080ti so this seems to be the one I want. I can replace the 1080ti later and get another 2080ti and link them.

I cannot believe 1300 Watts and you only have one 8 pin cable ? and 3x 6 pin?... Good job Dell
The Founders Edition 1080Ti should have only 1x 8 pin, your card has 1x8pin + extra 1x6pin because it is a 3rd party cards with custom PCB and cooling that requires more power(your card is more expensive than FE and has better performance/cooling)
Thing is that you cannot use 6pin to 8pin splitters(or any kind of splitters/converters really) for video cards, it will crash while rendering.. you will need to buy an extra power supply and use it externally
So buy a new 600 Watts+ PSU and get this,
https://www.amazon.com/Motherboard-M...herboard&psc=1
make sure the PSU is modular and has at least 4x 8pin cables, see the 850watts in this link
https://www.amazon.com/d/Computer-Po...%2Bsupply&th=1
so what you will do is turn off your PC, unplug the power cord then remove the 24 pin cable that goes to your board and install the splitter to the Mobo, then you can connect the 24 pin cables from both your PSUs to the splitter
That is basically it..
If you cannot find a 1080ti at 700 Euros, you better get a 2080/2080ti (production for pascal cards stopped and pricing has gone up in many places)
you can run a 1080ti and 2080ti together without issues, no need to replace the 1080ti for now..

Hey Bobby,
Those 2x6pins can easily be modded into 1x8 pin cable.
Tons of tutorials online about it. No need of a 2nd PSU as Muhammed said 1300W is enough.
We're running setups of 4x1080T1 on 1200 PSU without any problems so far.

He is going for a 2080ti, so he needs 2x 8 pin,
using the current 2x 6pin cables is not good idea, it will crash Vray or any GPU load on the second card.. But He can always try this out himself
Dell uses their own PSU btw, there is a reason why there is only 1 8pin cable left... They use very cheap PSU, I would be surprised if it is gold rated...Plat is bare minimum for any +1k Watts
So not sure if you would trust it with 3k Euros worth of GPUs..

So, I need the Power Supply, the splitter, and the card. If it's a blower card I can place it right in the case. I'll check the case later for a second 8-pin, it might be buried in the case someplace and I just can't see it. I think I have everything I need. Thanks for all your help!Bobby Parker

I opened things up and there are 2 - 8 pins and both are in the one video card. I have plenty of room for a second card, so that’s not an issue. Maybe I get two 1080ti’s, both only needing one 8 pin. My current 1080ti needs both, but like mentioned above, my card is a 3rd part version of the 1080ti.2 PhotosBobby Parker

Two of these might simplify things for me. In my cart and ready to cash out. Am I thinking straight? 2080ti's don't come with single 8-pin power. I'm due for a major upgrade next year, which I'll put more thought into GPU power. This is a minor upgrade, which should hold me over. I should double my GPU power and I'll sell my current 1080ti.

I am just a little confused on why the 2080ti's are the same price as the 1080ti's. On PNY the 1080ti is $829 on NewEgg, it is $1300. I can't seem to buy from the PNY site.Last edited by glorybound; 19-02-2019, 01:21 PM.Bobby Parker
