Use Display port on one of your 1080tis.. if I understand what you mean correctly

The card you use for monitor, is what is being used for viewport performance, you don't want a 1030 for 3Ds Max viewport..
Someone up top said I am probably using 4GB just for MAX

          • Use GPU-Z, not CPU-Z.. there is a tab called sensors there, where you can monitor VRAM of your GPU
And lets do 2 screeshots, one with scene loaded up in Max, but not rendering.. just to see how much VRAM Max is taking(not Vray GPU)
Another screenshot just like the one you posted, with Vray GPU rendering the scene

            • The VRAM used is reported in Vray's log as well, and there is statistics checkbox in render settings, it will display all this info when you have IPR runnig
              Thanks for sharing!

              • For your monitor, don't use a 1030, just connect it to the top card via Display port.. You will be fine

                  • It is crazy how your scene fits in 4 GB of VRAM, or probably not all VRAM gets released, which has been an issue with older Nvidia drivers before
Do you have any other apps open, like substance designer or Marvelous?
One last request, save changes to the scene and without closing Max, just start a new poject with Ctrl+N
Post a screenshot for GPUz with the new fresh, empty scene..

                    • Nope, just MAX. I'll do that shortly. I am not seeing a status checkbox in VRay.

                        • With no project open, 4 GB of VRAM is used, might be that part of VRAM is not released, or something did change in drivers
Whatever the case is, loading your GPU scene only adds 2.3 GB of VRAM
                          look for statistics in settings,
It will look like this with IPR runnig..

This is old news btw, this is been the case since 2015
                            http://bfy.tw/MOg9
After filling your 9 GB on a 1080Ti, you will get an error"Cannot allocate enough memory"
This happens with any renderer, not just Vray and with other cards..

Are you using Nvidia GPUs at all?
If so, clone any geometry with Vray GPU on your cards, and take a screenshot of GPU-z showing more than 9 GB used..
About the 5 GB, this is for a project that is taking 64 GB of RAM.. so what do you expect?
not aware of this. rendering on windows 10 for maybe 6 weeks now and cpu only.
but that would make dedicated display gpu even more important I guess.
                            nvidia’s? only 1070 and 2080. no Ti’s here.
