Let me check tomorrow and I will get back to you
Max using 4 GB of VRAM has nothing to do with your 4k monitor.. probably part of the VRAM from your rendering was not released..
After a restart when you open Max it will use like 1 GB, opening your scene will be at 2-3 GB or so

    • My interior is using less than around 4GB+-, so no worries here. I have a feeling I'll be getting a couple 2080TI's within a month or so. I'll see how the second 1080TI works. If my render times are cut in 1/2, then I'll keep buying cards until my renders are RT

            • It never arrived, so I requested a refund. He said it was delivered to the wrong place. Question, why would this not work to power a second 2080ti?

              • At 4:50, they talk about graphics in my machine. There has to be more power connectors somewhere. How else can the number of cards be true?

                • This is the same cost as two 2080ti’s, but without the need for the xtra power adapters or vlink, correct? I would also be able to reuse in new machine down the road with a second one. Am I thinking straight?

Hi Bobby - I think thr Titan would roughly double your VRAM but not your speed. Right? They both have a baseclock of 1350mhz and the Titan has 4,608 cores while the 2080 Ti has 4,352 so unless there is another factor I’m overlooking they’d be very similar in speed...?

                    • Just saw your replies Bobby,
Titan RTX uses 2x 8pin just like the 2080ti, but it is actually 20% faster or so
It uses Nvlink, so yeah you can use it in future with another card for 48 GB of VRAM in total

So, two 2080ti's would double the speed and RAM? That brings me back to my limited power connectors. I am going to crack the box again and see if I can't find a couple more connectors buried in there.

2- 2080TI with Nvlink would be best, if the Titan RTX is only 20% faster. If I doubled my 2080TI's I would double my speed and RAM. If I can find more connectors in my machine that's the way I'll go. If not, one Titan RTX will be my answer.

                          • Not an easy decision to make...
While the titan RTX is about 20% faster only compared to the 2080ti, it has double VRAM, so in future you can expand up to 48 GB with NVlink which is insane
It is the most powerful consumer card now

                            • Coming from my single 1080TI, it'll be much faster. I think that'll be the way to go.

Yeah, understandable. I think I’ll be going the 2080 Ti route. You could always do a second PSU that just feeds the new GPUs. At most you might have to jumper or do something like a splitter to get it to turn on with the other PSU. Probably doesn’t fit your case but just a thought.
