  • Heavy reflection and refraction depth - bucket or progressive GPU?

    Hi,

I render some large stereo panos at 10.000x5.000 for each side and at a glas shelf with mirror behind I have a lot of drink glasses. To get good looking reflections/refractions I need a high max depth like 30. Is it better to use the progressive or the bucket mode GPU rendering? Or it doesn't matter?

First of all, 30 is not high depth at all. I use 24 depth for glass at minimum to make it look good
And in some cases I use up to 64

Now regarding your question, role of thumb with high res renders is using bucket mode. It uses less system memory and you get features like Cryptomatte.
Bucket mode is quite fast as well.

Use 48 max subdivs and .02 noise threshold, it should be enough for most cases.

    Best,
