  • 3ds Max, GPU, nvidia denoiser

hello. i'm finding that the nvidia denoiser is smoothing out some walls that i have which have a stipple pattern as a very low bump. it's a black and white bitmap in the bump slot of a vray material. i'm using vray 6.x. i haven't really rendered this level of detail before, so i'm noticing it just now. below is the "done" and below that is while it's rendering. my noise limit is 0.001, progressive, samples limit 5000. any thoughts on how to preserve some of these details? rendered image size is 2560x1440 (perhaps too small?). thanks!

    Try the intel denoiser.

This is typical of the Nvidia denoiser, it doesn't work well in this case. Some people still use it for production rendering although I suggest using it with IPR
As Oglu suggested, the Intel denoiser should work better, we updated it in V-Ray 7 with more features/stability
