What's holding back those who haven't got VRayRT? For me, it's full support of the colorcorrect map. I can live with the other limitations but i use CC map almost everywhere so VRay RT as it currently stands is no help at all except maybe positioning lights.

Speed. Still a bit slow for us.

The cuda release will be quite good though.

Extended support for the ColorCorrect texture is already added to the next update.

Oh my - the introductory pricing still on?

More to the point, when will this next version be out? This month? By the end of the year?

Sweet. Time to start going around the office and installing the VRayRTSpawner service on unsuspecting CAD-Monkey systems; nothing like giving the IT department some job security.

Haven't heard any other announcements, but I received an email today from Trinity 3d stating that:

            Don't forget:

VRay RT Only $299 Until August 31, 2009!
            Price then increases to $599
            (European Countries please add $55)

VRay RT follows the user’s actions while working on the scene and automatically and progressively generates a photorealistic preview of the scene. Designed to improve and speed up the Texturing and Lighting stage of 3D scene creation.

You could use V-Ray RT in DR with more than one machine, so you could speed up things as much as you need. We will accelerate RT more for next release, so you could expect more speed and features from it.

CUDA is a language of nVidia for programming GPUs. We are working on a RT version that will render much faster using both CPU and GPU.
There was a presentation about RT on CUDA at Siggraph this year.

Thing is it'd be at it's most useful while we're constantly rendering, when we wouldnt be able to do that - DR is a nice option, but it's not really viable for the whole office.
Will be keeping an eye on it though, it's very good, just doesnt fit our current setup.

This is going to be insane in a couple of years with the cuda release out and another gen of processers in

Really keen on getting SSS2 support - we're looking at it for part of our lighting pipeline on a character feature, and will have to look at a separate pass for lighting with RT, with a similar SSS2 setup that switches over for final renders...

                          cheers
