  • RT What does it Not do?

    Hi

I am new to RT, I have been using Vray now since it came out.

When I open old Models (ie before I got RT) I am finding it disconnects itself, as in, it hit a calculation problem.

I don't have HRDIs in the model.

I do have a lot of proxies trees chairs ect.

They won't render, I presume thats just a fact of life at the moment?

    Why is it crashing out.

What will RT not do ?

Love it by the way, took a while to convince people how good it was.

If you can get us some scenes that crash to vray@chaosgroup.com it will be very helpful so that we can identify the problem.

      Vlado

I never got back to you about this.
      it works quite well now.
So thank you for a great product.

Everynow again i get aan error, even though i have been working on the model for a few hours.
Could i be wrong or dose it not render 2D lines, ie traced a shape but have not made it a edit polygone.

Thanks again for all the good support.

      Phil

Can someone confirm for me that VRay RT works with both xref objects and xref'd scenes?

We just bought a couple of copies and I'm a little disappointed. The first scene I opened up had SSS2 in it and it is not supported. Then I have a scene with a BG image and that is not supported? And is it true that HDR's are not supported?

See below - I took this yesterday. Gamma isn't completely correct because I use a slightly different method than most - but it works fine.

Both background images and HDR are supported; if you have a scene that has problems, would be best to email it to us at vray@chaosgroup.com so that we can take a look.

I am working with xref's in my scene but it seames as RT can not display them. Then i tryed to merge the geometry in the scene but then the geometry still does not show up. Is this some kind of bug?

                    Best regards,

                    Joost

I was a bit hesitant to enable xref's, since I was not sure if pulling all of the geometry and materials into 3ds Max while it's in interactive mode won't cause any troubles. We'll be making some tests though and if eveything is ok, we will enable them.

                      Best regards,

                        Thanx vlado,

That would be great. We work a lot with xref scenes and objects.

                        best regards,

The BD was a PSD file and was set to screen mode. In case that matters.

Ah, ok. We should be supporting PSD files for the next update.

                              Hi Vlado,

Now I'm a bit confused, cause both XRef Objects and XRef Scene work fine over here... (RT SP1)
