  • Vray RT compatible with more than it should be?

So weird issue. I made a box in 3dsmax, collapsed to Editable Poly, assigned some vertex colors, assigned a material that used the vert colors in the diffuse slot. Changed my active shade renderer in the render setup dialog to vrayRT, then went to my viewport and changed the view to Extended Viewports -> Activeshade, and it rendered my vertex colors fine in the view. But vertex colors are on the list of incompatible features here: http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...orted+Features The same works if I use the CameramapGemini modifier, which I assume shouldn't work in RT.

Is the documentation wrong or am I somehow not actually using vrayRT in my view? I'm quite confused, and I'm sure I must be making some stupid mistake somewhere. Thanks for any info.

Support for vertex colors was added in the 3.10 service pack; it looks like the docs did not get updated with this feature - but they are now.

    Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

      Cool, thanks.

Any idea why the CameraMapGemini mapping modifier would be working?

Also, what's the protocol for unsupported maps? I tried adding an unsupported map in the diffuse slot, and the rendered result was the diffuse color instead. I then placed a mix map that mixed between an unsupported map and a noise, and the result was a mix between the noise and the diffuse color. Does any unsupported map always get swapped for the diffuse color?
