Has this always been not working and so waiting to implement, or is it not an achievable thing?

So I just noticed you replied to this thread https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...-wrapper-alpha
I'm therefore assuming this is the same basic non-implemented feature.
Which is a shame

Unsure if this is the same issue, best you send the scene to support@chaosgroup.com so we can take a look and make a conclusion. Mention your V-Ray, host platform, GPU model/s, graphics driver versions and a link to this thread in the e-mail.

Actually yes I agree, it's different.
I just simplified the scene to send and noticed that with it set NOT to be a matte material but with the alpha contribution of 1.0 there are no reflections even in the beauty, though bizarrely if you set the alpha to -1.0 then they appear.

Yes, just the same behaviour as what happens when using CPU only. Usage would be a product on a shiny black floor for example as in a recent post I commented on.
I only discovered the GPU issue by replying with a process for doing this kind of shot.
The GPU result is as in the scene and the images in this post - it's currently not possible to have the reflection appear in the matte at all.
Apologies - I didn't intend to change the focus - it's just something extra weird that I happened to notice when sending the simple scene. It's surely not intended to work like that.
Do you see what I mean in the general sense?
I can provide more example images of what exactly is happening and the various settings used, if that helps, although that scene should exemplify it all.
