  • The incorrect GPUs are being used for rendering if I enable Distributed Rendering

I am experiencing issues with incorrect GPUs being used for rendering if I enable and use Distributed Rendering. Please see the screenshot below. You can clearly see that I've disabled the GTX 1080, yet it's being used. I tried rebooting my PC, but that didn't fix it. The opposite happens as well - I've enabled the GTX 1080 Ti, but it's not being used. The issue only goes away if I disable and don't use Distributed Rendering.

    Hello,
I still have this issue. Any help, please?

Hi have you set up your devices according to this method - https://docs.chaos.com/display/VMAX/...DADevicesforDR

Thanks for the reply. I haven't set up anything, as far as I know. Here's what this looks like on my end. Do I need to make any changes? Do I also need to make any changes on any other computer that is used for DR rendering with the GPU engine?

This is the tool that determines which device is to be used. It has to be ran on every machine that takes part in the distributed rendering. When you are sending the scene from your PC there is no way of knowing what hardware will load it for rendering.

Got it. I checked all checkboxes, restarted Max and now Vray GPU uses all of the devices that I pick. Thanks! I am curious though, why is this additional step necessary? There's already a list in the render settings in 3ds Max to select the devices I want to be used for rendering. It doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for the feedback Alex, I added a note about DR for the new Device Manager. It should be ready for user's testing very soon
