    Hi guys,

Anyone else finding this very unstable? I've never managed to work in this without the constant expectation of a crash, happens on small files, large files, you name it. Graphics card is a 48Gb A6000, no reason there! IPR is fine for adjusting HDRi's, alas working and moving objects around seems to cause frequent crashes.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Hi Jason, sorry to hear you are having issues with the GPU IPR

Which DCC are you using? What OS and V-Ray versions?

    Best,

Thanks Muhammed, it's been happening for years, different machines, different Vray versions etc. Hence I avoid it unless using it to set up lighting.

      Kind regards,

      Jason

        Which V-Ray plugin?
I'm preparing a few scenes for updating the GPU page, I plan on using the GPU IPR throughout, so hopefully being able to reproduce any crashes I will make sure it is solved.

          Hi Muhammed,

Current version is Vray 52001 for 3dsmax 2022, but as mentioned it's happened on all versions. Do you never suffer any crashes?

          Kind regards,

          Jason

I do use it on daily basis, I used 3Ds Max to prepare a few scenes for Nvidia's GTC
For this one here I used the IPR for 6 hours in one session without a single crash, preparing the scene was overall a smooth experience. This doesn't mean the IPR is perfect, so any crashes I come across I make sure it gets solved.
I will be taking another look into 3Ds Max IPR soon, meanwhile if there is something specific that makes it unstable for you let me know please. Being able to reproduce it on my side, means it gets solved

Thanks for the reply Muhammed, interesting you used IPR for that long without a crash. Maybe it's forest pack with me? This is used extensively in most my scenes?

              Nice work btw.

I wonder if it is a combination of scene size and forest pack ? I turn off all scenes objects except the items I'm working on under IPR, trying to avoid these crashes, alas they still happen.

Also how are you finding ACES, are you manually changing the maps to all those objects in your scene? Seems like it's usuable if you have a lot of props by other suppliers?

              Kind regards and thanks,

Forest Pack works fine as well, in your case this might be something basic honestly. If you get a chance to upload me a simple scene that crashes the IPR for you, we will take a look
Or we can arrange a remote session to take a look at your setup

This is also a common practice, hard to tell if this is the root of your issue

It is been great so far, I haven't used sRGB since. there is a script by my colleague Lele that can change the RGB primaries for all bitmaps in the scene. It should be easy to convert an existing scene to ACES workflow
If you have questions on that let me know as well
