  • Failed to allocate bytes..... wont render using rtx?? PLEASE HELP!

It was fine until it wasn't, I keep getting this message only when using RTX...... v-ray will work with cpu but not my gpu, my tower is core i7, 32gb ddr4 3200MHz, 2070 geforce rtx. it is also not working on my laptop, core i9, 32gb ddr4 ram, 2080rtx? how do I solve this, I really need to render this school project.

    Hi,

The following error is caused by insufficient GPU memory. Could you please follow our guide for optimizing memory usage here.
Also, please check Muhameds post here which will provide additional information.

You can check what consumes most of the memory in the stats tab in the V-Ray frame buffer here.

        Hi

All vray gpu users are suffering since they changed light cache from cpu to gpu ( is taking a Lot of vram, really a lot)better use 5.1 if You are using vray for sketchup.

I hope with vray 6 we got a better use for the vram. Renders look better with light cache calculated with gpu at the expense for a possibly crash for vram with vray gpu.

        Cheers

          Hi Luis,

We have one developer working full time on GPU LC, more performance changes come soon. And we are looking for ways to optimize the GPU memory for LC and other things, it is very high priority to us.

Thanks for the feedback as always

          Best,
          Muhammed

It is not just about file size, please follow my advice in the link Martin shared above. It will help you manage your GPU memory
And if you upload a sample scene for us, we will be able to tell what is going on with your setup

            Best,
            Muhammed
