  • Black window

Can't seem to get anything besides a black window with no errors (with the demo). Running max 2010. I tried to launch the vray RT server and that has no errors either. Am I missing something?

    Thanks

Is there any message printed in the ActiveShade view?

      Best regards,

Nothing changes when I reduce the size of both the viewport and popout active shade. You mentioned set rt resolution, where is this located? The only thing printed in the window is "V-Ray RT Demo 32x 240 max resolution for demo".

Five minutes later: Seems to work now. Had to popout activeshade window for it to reset/fix. Thanks for the help

Running on MAX 9 64bit - i got past the viewport size so i can see the messages and that it sends the scene out to the local render server

but... it stop at "Waiting for image data..." and remains black (i only have 1 teapot in the scene)

Do you see a command-line window in the task bar with the V-Ray RT render server?

              Best regards,

No, even though inside the active shade view port is says "Starting local render server (done)"

Also, in the Task Manager, do you see a process called "vray.exe" running?

                    Best regards,

I must be doing the same thing wrong.

Active shade pops up and says "V-Ray RT DEMO 320x240 max resolution for demo"

                      no vray.exe in task manager.

I have render res set at 320x240, and I made the perspective window really small. I just can't get it to do anything.
vrlservice.exe is running, but that's it.

this is in max2010 in WinXPx64

You have probably set the resolution for the Production renderer, not for the ActiveShade renderer. Make sure you set the rendering mode to ActiveShade from the radio controls in the lower left corner of the 3ds Max Render setup dialog, then change the resolution to 320x240.

                        Best regards,

no surprise, but you are correct.

I wasn't aware it had changed when I switched to active shade settings. Sorry, I didn't notice. That solved that problem.

I hadn't used active shade before. Thanks vlado. Quick to solve the problem, as always.

No problem; the ActiveShade workflow in 3ds Max is a bit awkward and takes some time to get used to (I'm not really aware of anyone using this feature since it was introduced in 3dsmax 5 I think).

                            Best regards,

I am having the same prooblem, everything is correct as per previous threads, bit in the active shade floater window it won't get past waiting for image data...

Last entry in V-RAY RT render server: Memory Usage:16.18mb

There are no error anywhere and the vray exe is running too!

How long should it usually take, tried with a large scene I am working on and with 1 teapot!
