I have just tried it on my 32-bit machine and it works fine.

However on a 64 bit machine, which I have max 32-bit and vray 32-bit it doesn't work.

I have 32-bit installed as it needs to match my other 32-bit machines so I can use backburner...

I have tried the 64-bit server with 32-bit VRAY RT and that doesn't work either, is there any way to get this working?

What happens in that case? It is supposed to work, since I've used that scenario many times here.

This should work fine, but perhaps it is related to the above issue too.

I have the same black window waiting for image data. I had this working great yesterday with the timer countdown working. Setup ActiveShade & Production Render to 320x240. Started up a seperate activeshade view. everything works and it stuck on the waiting for image data. Vista Ultimate x64 Max2009 64-bit VRay 1.5 SP3a Again, I had this working fine yesterday, but today I get nothing...very strange.

There are several things to check:

(*) Do you have the "Auto-start local server" option in the V-Ray RT rendering settings?
(*) Do you see the V-Ray RT render server window in the task bar?
(*) Do you see the vray.exe process in Task Manager?

          Best regards,
          Vlado

Auto-start local server = Checked On
I do NOT see the VRay RT Render server window
I see the vray.exe process running in task manager

When I start the VRay RT Render server from the start menu in windows, I get the following error.

Error: Failed to start network server: Failed to open listening port (10048 ) Exiting server mode.

Did you register the RT render server to run as a service? If yes, make sure that service runs with your normal user login. Another solution is to un-register the service (from the Start menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray RT for 3ds Max > Unregister....)

              Best regards,
              Vlado

Okay, it works! I unregistered the service. So apparently I didn't have the appropriate permissions running with the service?

I will start working with the service some more to see if I can get that figured out properly. Again, Vlado, thanks for the help. I can't say it enough about how much you really help this community. Much appreciated! THANKS!

Its just stays black vlado...... I have it all working now though, I have a full 64-bit version of max and vray and vray RT on my main machine and to solve the backburner issues on rendering which was why I was using that setup I will send my renders to backburner as a 32 bit render which is is the advanced options....

When did you download the demo? There was a short while yesterday when the demo builds were broken, but we fixed that.

                      Best regards,
