I just purchase a copy of vray rt, i made all the proces of activation from my computer home, and tested there and the program works very well, however, when i took my wibu key to my office, the active shade window show an error: could not obtain a license (-9
    What could be the problem?

Do you have a local license server or a remote one ? If it is remote at work then it needs to be updated to the license server included with the RT install.

The error code (-98 ) happens when you are using an old license server which does not recognize the RT licenses, or when there are no RT licenses on the dongle. Check the license server status page to see which is the case.

There appears to be no VRayRT license in that list.

Maybe try reinstalling the RT. I was actually having a similar problem, and when I checked my license info in VRay I had another dongle as the primary, which did not have the RT license. Corrected that and it worked. Also I reinstalled the RT to make sure I had the new license server.

This is what my license page looks like:

i got the same problem...it was that i installed max 2010 but i'm using 2009...the path of vray license was 2010...go to services and check select vray license and click properties to see what version you are using as a service.

Just something to keep in mind:

If you have different Max versions and different versions for 32- and 64-bit installed be sure to find out what vrlservice.exe from what install you are running. At least this one has to be updated by the RT installation. Of course it's best to install RT in all versions so there is no confusion. I know people () that install the 64-bit max2008 RT and have the vrlservice.exe for 32-bit max2008 running. This way this last vrlservice.exe is not updated for recognizing RT !!!
