When I have used RT in a scene, and send the scene to render on the farm with backburner, I (obviously) get an error the RT plugin is not found (...of course I am rendering with VRay, not with RT !!!) and the scene does not render. How should I install RT on the farm: as workstation or node install. Note: this is not for RT-DR rendering, just for rendering regular VRay scenes with Backburner !!

trick, you need to remove the Vray RT renderer from the activeshade slot and everything will render fine on a farm without RT.

I have VrayRT installed but we're not using it yet (haven't sorted out license problems yet so don't have it active under the activeshade option) and when I send jobs to backburner they won't render (missing vray_rtmax90.dlr issue). This is pretty frustrating as we're running to a tight deadline and don't really have time to install vray RT on 15+ seperate machines when we're not even using it.
I understand it's probably an issue with how Max treats plugins that it expects to find in its plugin folder but I needed to vent!

thats odd, if its not active in the activeshade slot then it shouldnt be passed on when the job is submitted.
You could try uninstalling VRayRT from your workstation and see if the missing plugin appears when you open the file

You don't need to uninstall V-Ray RT; you just need to un-assign it as the ActiveShade renderer. As with all 3ds Max plugins, simply uninstalling and re-saving will not remove the plugin data from the scene. If you use any x-ref scenes, you may need to remove it from them also.
