  • Substance unsupported in V-Ray RT

Could anyone confirm if substance maps in Max 2012 are unsupported in Vray RT 2.20.01?

Apparently 3rd party texture maps are unsupported in Vray RT: (http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/rt10...d_features.htm)

I’m fairly sure substance maps fall under this category as the technology is by allegorithmic (even though its been implemented in Max since Max 2011).

    Just wanted to be sure!
    Cheers

    Yeah it is unsupported.
I think it would be quite tricky to get it to work as it is quite a complex procedural shader.... but in saying that you never know what is going on at Chaos

Well in Maya we just bake the Substance textures into bitmaps (because we have no other way to render them), which works for both the production V-Ray and V-Ray RT; we could do the same in 3ds Max for V-Ray RT I guess.

      Best regards,

I agree Chris, substance is very complex.
Vlado, baking is a great universal solution!
Thank you both for your help.
