  • V-Ray Standalone has stopped working. V-ray rt 3.00.07 GPU Opencl

    Hi,

I'm having a few issues getting v-ray rt working using the gpu opencl. Every time I try to render with either the production or activeshade mode I get to "waiting for image data" in the frame buffer and then "V-ray Standalone has stopped working" pops up. Works fine with the cpu just not the gpu.

You will need newer drivers (version 14.20 or something like that). I don't know if these are officially released yet.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

      Vlado,

Worked like a charm. Thanks for your help.

I also experience crashes with GTX 770 with CUDA.
        Driver version 340.52.

Any idea what that might be?

Which Vray version you are using?
Does the crash occurs on every scene - have you tried to render a very simple scene with a few basic primitives?
What about OpenCL mode? Does it work or not?
Have you tried with older drivers like 337.88 ?

I have discovered it happens when I use heavy HDR maps with dome light (around 400MB+)
When I use smaller HDRs everything is fine.

I will try 337.87 and report back.
I red comperations online that most of them claimed Nvidia are crippled in OpenCL, so I don't want to use that on regular basis (yes, that same crash happens no matter OpenCL or CUDA)

Is Resize Textures for GPU option activated?

Have you tried also to decrease the Resolution parameter from DomeLight properties?
