  • GPU not working

    Hi guys,

I'm running into some problems and i have no idea what happened.
Everything worked fine until my latest restart.
After the restart, the VrayRT GPU isn't rendering at all. THE GPUs aren't engaging and no error messages or any messages are displayed at all. Only a black image.
The render window says "Rendering image..." but it's not even trying to load the scene as usual and that command-prompt window of VrayRT isn't starting.
It renders fine with the CPU though.
If i swap to Active-Shade, it hangs at "Waiting for image data..."

I have to mention that i haven't changed / installed / updated any software or anything in the meantime. Also, no render settings were changed. Also, the same problem persists on a completely new scene.
And it's not the drivers as i have seen in a different topic. In that topic, updating the drivers solved the problem.
I updated the drivers but it didn't helped.

It's not a hardware problem either as the GPUs are rendering just fine if i render with iRay.

The Vray license server is running in the background as usual.

    Regards,
    Peter Istrate.

Most probably you have RT render slave running as a service. Please check the Task manager for running V-Ray service and stop it.
Let me know if this helps.

I have activated the render slave indeed but was it supposed to be ON even after i have restarted the computer ?

Anyway, i have restarted the Vray License Server and it works now.
But i thought that if i restart the computer, the License Server would restart too... but it wasn't that way. I had to stop and start it again manually.

      Thanks for reply,
I'll keep an eye on these processes more often.

        Hi,

Thank you for the update. Glad to hear that it works now.

If it is registered as a windows service, it will start automatically with Windows. You could remove it by Start > Program Files > Chaos Group > V-Ray RT (for Max) / V-Ray for ..(Maya) > Remove V-Ray (RT) render server
Or just go to Windows services and set VrayRTSpawner to "manual" or "disabled".

But i thought that if i restart the computer, the License Server would restart too..
You could register it as a service and the license server will start with Windows. The short cut for this is under the Program Files > V-Ray.. > Licensing > Administration
