  • Rt as prod, double frame saving

    Hi there,
I'm rendering out a animation with Rt as production render using GPU.
Sometimes, when it saves the rendered frame, it saves it for the current frames and for the next one as well.
For example, rendering from 40-50, when rendering frames 43, it saves the frames 43 but as 44 as well at the same time and continue rendering frames 45. So It's actually not rendering frames 44 at all.
It happens when I'm rendering through max UI but not through BB.
    Any thought?

We had a similar problem in the night builds, but it is fixed. Can you sent us a scene or post detailed reproducing steps ? (scene at peter.matanov@chaosgroup.com)
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

      Hi Peter,

Sorry was a bit busy yesterday.

I just send you the scene through email.
I would recommend render frame 41 as that's the one making both of my workstations crashes.
With the GTX 780 Ti it's error cuda 700 and with the dual 680s it's the double frame rendering.

Otherwise, the dual frame save is only happening on the dual 680s and not on the single 780.

You might want to lower down the rays per pixels as I raised them through maxscript, just saying

      Hope this will help.

        Hi Stan,

Yesterday I reproduced the double frame issue very easily on GTX 980 but today it's completely gone All day changing settings and gpu cards and still no luck.. Will try again next week, until then can you update your driver to see if the error 700 can disappear ?

          Hey Peter,

I've updated my drivers on the lastest one : 347.09-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql

It didn't fixed the error, I still got it crashing at frame 56, it seems to be a nasty one.
Could you check it you can render that one?

          Cheers

No problem at all, same drivers on GTX 980... I will post here if there is any progress regarding your issues.

Attention ! Due to some other fixes it's now advisable to not minimize VFB when rendering with RT as production render. This could cause double frame saving and/or other unpleasant issues Fix is on the way !

It seems so, from what Peter told me,
I'll try that out on the node that had the issue once I've got time.

                    Hi Stan,

Did you had the chance to check it out ?
