  • Vray light - cast shadows option

Is it right that RT GPU ignores the "cast shadows" option in a vray light?

For example, I have a couple of lights set up to cheat some speculars. Everything is unticked except "affect specular"
They show up proper in the production render, but with RT GPU there is nothing?

Any work around if this is the case?

    Hi,

We have implemented support for V-Ray lights "Cast shadows" option in RT/ GPU and most probably this functionality will be available in one of the next service packs.

      Ok great

Any workaround in the mean time?
Essentially, is there a way to create fake speculars in RT GPU?

Not with the current official version, unfortunately. The nightly builds can do that, and it will work for the next service pack.

        Best regards,

I just did a test and you should be able to get something even with unsupported Cast shadows parameter:

Unchecking the Affect diffuse and reflections should be enough.
          or I'm missing something ?

The issue for me was it was an interior, and I was using the "place highlight" tool.
I needed cast shadows off so the specular wasnt blocked by other objects.
