  • RT doesn't render Point Cached animations

I've got an object that I've applied animation to via the "Point Cache" modifier in order to keep the viewport performance smooth. When I tried to preview the animation with RT, neither CUDA, nor CPU mode seem to show the motion and the object renders "fixed" while I scrub the timeline as if I haven't applied the "Point Cache" modifier. RT does show the animation of the original keyframed object correctly, though. Is this a limitation of RT?

    Hi,

Generally V-Ray RT should update the Point cache animation, but if the geometry has changed its topology during the animation frames then this will not going work. It is in our "to do" list for RT improvements.

Thanks for the reply and making this clear. Until then, I'll be previewing the keyframed/unbaked animations whenever possible.

It's weird that the RT engine doesn't detect the changes to the object, regardless of whether it has changing topology or not. Can you post a scene for that or send to support@chaosgroup.com so that we can check what's wrong?

        Best regards,
        Vlado

Strange. I opened the scene where the problem appeared and it works now. Something went wrong but I'm not sure what. I'll report and send the scene if I encounter this again.
