  • Vray RT (gpu) animation render - memory crash

While doing a Vray RT animation test I had Vray crashing due to it running out of memory after 6 frames. It seemed to have simply used extra ram for every frame while not clearing the ram it used for previous frames. Is this a known issue or am I running into different problems? (afraid I can't share the scene in this case, but it is a fairly large scenes including multiple large buildings, 3ds max populate characters and multiple tree/car proxies). System used has 16 Gb ram, GPU is a Titan X. The first frames rendered fine and were saved to disk.

I had the exact same issue last year, I send the file over to support but haven't had any news since.
I had to send my job to BB, and create for each frame a separate job as I couldn't render more than 1 frame at the time due to the memory stacking from frame to frame, kind of a pain when dealing with animations...

I didn't encounter the issue since with the latest builds though so I assumed the issue was fixed.
    What version are you running?

I'm using version 3.20.02 at the moment. Have you tried rendering animations of complex/heavy scenes with the latest build succesfully?

Latest is hard to qualify as there are new build everyday.
But I did with build from last month and the month before.

Those are more than big enough for a reliable test . Where can I find the latest Vray builds though?

You need to have access to the nightlies.
If you don't, you should ask the support guys, or Vlado if he's got time.

This one is almost fixed. Keep your fingers crossed to be ready for the next SP (beta version is coming very soon).

I saw the updates in the most recent beta version, but is this fix in there? I couldn't recognize it in the lists.

The partial fix is in the beta so you can try it with your problematic scene.

Everything should be fine in the future official 3.30.03
