  • Hanging at "prefiltering light cache" - and GI is turned ogg

So I'm trying to render an animation, GI is turned off, I'm using SSS, but every frame needs to "pre filter light cache" - why does it do that if GI is off?

And secondly, why are all my backburner nodes all just hanging there doing nothing?

THE VFB drew in the scene, went black, and they have all just stopped and it's saying "pre filtering light cache"

    WTF?

    It's even doing it locally.

The message window is talking about cannot find phoenix frames -4000, and that it is coiling CUDA and doews that when it's first run on a machine (on the nodes)

Locally, if I scrub through and do an iteative render it works, but if I start at frame 0 it doesnt.

The only difference to yesterday is that I have selected some phoenix sims to start after their initial point.

Hmm, it doesn't do it if I start from frame 1, only 0, so maybe there is a bug with starting from frame 0 if you are using phoenix with sims with a unusual start playback frame, and you render from frame 0?

It renders fine locally but not backburner, and yes all my phoneix caches are correct.

So I did a DR and took one of the machines off the server list and it rendered fine - so it got me thinking that maybe it's something to do with trying to render a lightcache in vray RT when one machine doesn't have enough GPU RAM - but then it stopped on the other machines, and eventually I couldn't render locally.

It seems as if it's something to do with storing a light cache or sharing a light cache when an unsuitable machine is involved - but then that bug seems to stay with a workign machine after. Very peculiar.

I can supply the file if needed.
