  • Denoising in bake to texture

Hi, I'm reaching out from EnvisionVR,

We are in the process of building a one-click plugin that let's Arch Viz artists convert any 3ds Max model to ‘metaverse ready’ model or an XR experience. This will work for single assets or whole scenes with Corona/V-Ray lighting and textures.

Currently we are producing the highest quality results from Corona rendered models for the one reason; Corona allows denoising in bake to texture.

V-Ray has denoising render pass but it seems to only be available when doing a normal render and not when doing this pass when doing a bake to texture. We have tried using the standalone V-Ray denoiser but this requires noise pass which is not apparently possible with baked to texture.

For the V-Ray workflow we are having to use blender denoiser which creates sub-par results and for that reason we recommend our clients use Corona only. We do believe we can create equal or possibly better results with V-Ray if this feature is implemented which seems easily achievable given the shared ownenrship of the two products.

Again, we do believe 3ds Max to Metaverse/Vray/Mobile VR/Low Poly is going to be a commonly used workflow once our automated converter is finished so would appreciate if you could accommodate so that we can build this for both Render engines.

Please let me know if you need any more information or clarification, you can reach me at davide@envisionvr.com.au

Hi, thanks for posting. The Denoiser will work with Bake to Texture at some point. We have this request logged in already. I will add your thread to it and bump the priority.

Hey Vlad, this is great to hear.

We're in the process of building out our E-Learning content and would like to include V-Ray in the recommended workflows.

Are you able to give me an aprox ETA for this feature?

Our team are happy with exactly how it works in Corona.

Hi I can not give you a reliable ETA. The issue is one with higher priority and will definitely be fixed sooner than later. It will not be available in the next major release.
We will notify you when the issue is ready.

Hi Vlad, I just noticed you have a separate Wishlist for V-Ray for 3dsMax. This is what I was after so I should have posted there.
Shall I re-post there or is this post suitable?

Hi, probably it would have been better to post in Wishlist section but it is also fine here.

techn_ology what kind of denoisers you think you'll use for this one - only V-Ray's? What about the others that are more fit for IPR (Open Image and NVIDIA)?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

matanov we would only be using V-Ray's thanks, similar to the way Corona's works. Could you possibly email me at davide@envisionvr.com.au as this email is unchecked.
