  • RT GPU (and/or CPU) support for MultiTexture

We make extensive use of MultiTexture in our work. Will RT support this in the future?
    Kind Regards,

It depends; we could either bake it into a bitmap, or recode it for the RT engine - I have to check which would be more appropriate.

Thanks Vlado. At the moment, lack of support for bercontile and multitexture is the main thing holding us back from using RT fully.

I also use a lot both and as Tricky said, it's the main reason I don't use fully RT...what bothers me a lot, I like RT.

I understand the need, but mostly i would much rather see RT support all the basic Vray functions before adding third party stuff in.

Yes, of course. I'm totaly agree with you. It's just because it's frustating.
Anyway, seeing RT supporting all the basic Vray functions is a priority

              Hi Vlado,

Any news about Multitexture yet ?
I don't know how complicated it is to recode it for RT but like you said bake it into a bitmap is enough for the time being.

Hope you had time think about this one.

              Thanks

Question to vlado - would it be easy to set up a script to bake all textures in scene no matter where they come from? This could save a lot of per 3rd app programing wouldnt it for time being ?

Vlado, is there an API for writing our own translator plugins that we could throw in /bin/plugins ?

There is something in the works for V-Ray 3; email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com if you are interested.

                    Best regards,

Hey Vlado, still no news about multitexture yet? or any other way to bake the bitmaps to be able to use in RT?

                      Thanks

We'll get to that; I wanted us to finish the Color Correction and Mix maps first.

                        Best regards,

Oh boy...Color Correction in RT! Mix maps too.

Each one of these is like getting a present for your birthday...

Dare I ask again - any luck with RT GPU and BerconTile/Multitexture?

Basically, we NEED a solution that can randomly distribute a whole bunch of textures (bricks/planks/blocks etc) into a tiled structure with controllable tiling controls (herringbone/stretcher/stack bond etc). Almost every interior floor we work on is timber boards, and to create a workaround for this (to enable us to use RT) is a real pain.

The BerconTiles turned out to be too hard for the moment, so we are looking into the MultiTexture thing.
