  • V-Ray RT Support for iToo Forest Pack Pro

It would be great for my workflow if I could see my landscaping grass, trees, etc., in my RT window. I use RT CPU.
    Thanks! Brian

VRay RT doesn't include a SDK, so it is not possible to write plugins for it.

It is not impossible, and we are thinking about it, however it is quite a bit of work.

Thanks Vlado & Carlos (from iToo) I added this to the wish list because it certainly seems apparent that VRAY RT is an important part of many artists workflow. It also seems that RT will eventually be used as a production renderer by more & more people, like iRay is. So it seems that being able to use RT for popular plug-ins like Forest Pack is important. Thanks again for both of your responses. You both represent excellent companies!

            From Vlado, some days ago:

"Clipping planes are on the "to do" list; got to finish the support for instances first though.

            Best regards,
            Vlado "

Yep, support for the Forest plugin wouldn't make much sense we don't have instancing working first...

Any news about making this work for vray rt.?

I am considering buying a powerful maximus desktop computer, and I really want to start using vray rt for production.

                I hope soon..

For the next service pack, you can convert ForestPro to regular instances and that will work fine.

We also have a prototype implementation in the nightly builds that translates ForestPro directly without explicit conversion, but there are still some issues with that on the ForestPro side and it wasn't stable enough to include it in this service pack.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

Looking forward to a 100% automation in vray rt with forest...

Yes, we will get there. In the meantime, you can play with the nightly builds We could use some feedback

Here is another teaser done by Peter Matanov (our Q&A guy):

On the whole, instancing (not only through Forest Pro) allows you to render much more complicated scenes - one of the test arch viz scenes here had over 58 million polygons...

                              That looks amazing!
Now if Karba would remove the 2.2 version lock on multiscatter then more people could test this out!
