  • Standalone RT window

    Heya

Would it be possible to easily separate RT from max ?

I have quite a lot of RT crashes(nighties and stable builds) and most of the time I have to restart max to get it back to work. Would it be possible so that we can use a standalone external RT engine to do RT stuffs? We would basically specify the IP/pc name to where to look for RT slave and there window would start - it also would be nice if we could ask RT to use different render farm for calculations leaving main workstation lag-free...

Basically specify RT server for window and specify RT for farm.

    Thanks, bye.

That's exactly what we have already, no? The rendering already happens outside of 3ds Max in V-Ray Standalone for precisely that same reason. Any 3ds Max problems unfortunately will remain in 3ds Max.

With that said, if you can get us ways to reproduce your problems, it will give us a chance to at least try to fix them.

    Best regards,

humh, yes it does render outside max - sorry my fault arrr, but the problem I hit is I guess window lag... if I click "X" It just grays out the X button and stays like that forever. Then I have to restart max to use render again. I will see if I can reproduce it - will get back to you - thanks!

Ah, that. I've noticed some lag as well, although here the window usually goes away eventually after a few seconds (not every time though). If you ever get this again, can you generate a mini dimp for the 3dsmax.exe process (using e.g. Process Explorer) and send it to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com, it will be very helpful.
