Silver and I wanted to do a benchmark using 1.46.10 and we came up with this rather simple file which utilizes some of Egz’s materials. We had drastically varying results which is why I brought this up:
Silver posted his results below:
My results turned up a time of 43 mins versus his 14 mins. While I understood that my processor might be a little slower, I didn’t expect it to be THAT much slower. The two major differences imo are hyperthreading and service packs. Could this make that much of a difference?
Silver’s system specs are:
Asus p4p800-e
Intel p4 ht 3.2
PC3200 DDR400 2GB
Windows XP SP1
My system specs are:
MSI K8N Neo2
Athlon 64 3200
PC3200 DDR400 2GB
Windows XP SP2
Asus p4p800 Deluxe ( )
Intel p4 ht 2.8 (OC 10%)
PC3200 DDR400 1.5GB
WINDOWS XP SP1
Hey Rerender, i turned on my shity slave machine and rendered it with DR and i got 12m 29sec..i couldn´t catch your dual xeon . Thats why im buying a dual opteron  , i hope this gets faster. Even i think that from 17min to 12min, its a good decrease of time.
Nice test, thank you guys, with this i saw that i need urgently new machines.
Hi Guys, I just tried your benchmark test file and I couldnt get it to open in Max 6. Are you all using max 7?
Could you post up a version for max 6 please??
What?!? If that’s the case Daforce, then I’ll trade you computers. How the heck is my first render 43 mins (see first post) on my main machine??!?!?!?? Someone please help!!!
It’s much better now. I cleaned out my registry (sys mechanic) and updated my BIOS. The only thing that has changed system-wise since last BIOS update (2 months ago) was the addition of an extra gig of RAM. Perhaps it was a BIOS setting that didn’t get changed with the new RAM and the settings (timings?) got flushed. It’s the only thing I could think of.
