I’ve been running in Maya for a while and once a while I need to come to max to do some things. I have a big annoyance with it as its very slow. Every time I select object and go to edit poly mode ui lags like hell. Its as if he was opening each tab in ui 1 by 1 and refreshing entire UI as he does it. It takes like 10 seconds to open some ui, drives me crazy.
Does any1 else have that? Any solution for that awesomeness of AD?
We had a discussion about this a while back; it tends to happen over time for me as well, the issue seems worse if you have multiple instances of 3ds Max open. I’ve had cases where opening the material editor would take something like 10 seconds. It looked like cleaning up 3ds Max settings or reinstalling 3ds Max makes it fast, until it slows down after a while again. I’m not sure why this happens…
Its Crazy ! I have fresh install of 3ds max and it lags as hell ! Just hands down :- ( I’m getting new workstation in next few weeks if that system will have the lag as well I dont know what I will do. Move back to max 9 !
I have moved to one computer and everything local, which solved a ton of my MAX issues. I purchased a machine with as many cores and ram as I could afford and I am loving it. Obviously, not as fast as 5 i7’s, but easier.
What if you unplug your network cable and try things. Sounds like a network lag to me (from something) are you using maxstart.max file to set options in your max?
The other obvious thing to check would be video card…imo.
Nope no maxstart.max file. But I disabled aero and that helped a little and lag is shorter but still there. I will try plunging network cable that’s a very good idea actually!
Max 2014 x64, windows 8.1 Pro, Chrome open, Rhinoceros open, Rendersettings open in 2 seconds, Materialeditor also, lots of plugins and scripts, and this is a 1 year old install. PC is attached with a NAS.
Videocard is a Quadro K4000, 64 GB RAM and Dual Xeon, dual SSD in Raid 0 for OS and programs.
