I’m not sure this is a VRay issue or not.
On some scenes it happens that after rendering (especially when rendeirng particles) max takes its time to recover. Even if the rendeirng takes like 2 seconds, I will have to wait at least 15-30 seconds until max responds again.
Which max and vray version is this?
There was an issue a while back with Nitrous, and in viewport properties if you just untick “Improve Quality Progressively” under Display Performance, it helped a LOT. But as I say that was a while back, can’t remember the max and vray versions now
I had a similar-sounding problem that seems to have to do with Nitrous re-initializing materials and maps after a render.
Save your scene, then try switching to ‘Shaded materials without maps’ in the viewport shading menu. Totally fixed the problem for me, but if you switch back to ‘Realistic materials with maps’ it’ll enable the display of every map in your scene no matter how it was set up previously, hence saving your scene first and proceeding with caution. Max might hang for a while as the materials/maps get swapped.
I had a similar issue using Embree with static geometry when my RAM amount was too high. When I left 3.2 GB or so for the OS, the problem seemed better.
Hi, thanks for your reply. My system has 64 GB of RAM and the rendering doesn’t get over 20GB (My dynamic memory limit it set at somewhere around 55 GB)
Would it be possible to send us a sample scene and inform us in advance how much time it takes until Max becomes responsive after the render ends?
What is the exact Vray 3.xx.xx version?
