Airport (new)

Ive been admiring the airport images ive seen recently and only wish my project can come out as good. The main focus on my project is on different things that happen in different parts of the airport. So more or less i need to model most of the airport. This here is 2 hours into modeling part of the parking lot. i was just trying different things and i think ill go with a night scene.

The cars look better than the airport! I like the daylight scene more, it shows the building much better.

well i guess we need to see the remainder of the building to give further comments…good start.

ill try to get more of it finished today. the client is comming over for lunch so im rendering out a quick anim to show him the camera movement

those half arches will have lights on them. i originally wanted to have some sort of shade for the cars between them but i cant think of a cool idea for the shades. down below though that will be a pathway around the edge of the parking lot with a glass covering. Bare in mine im not an archetect, im not a designer of building, im just an artist making things up as i go hehe

the airport will be a ring around the parking. so that the next ring outside the parking will be a 2 level departure/arrival zone road (the bridge you see at the top connects parking to airport on that level.)

then the airport building itself will be the next ring. etc etc.

geez, where do you get such nice car models

my library so far concists of 3dcafe, turbosquid, friends on mirc. actually some of them dont have that many polys. its the egz-car-paint that makes them look sweet

i think it would be really really really cool to have a few super detailed cars like suurland creates for very close foreground shots. i know im just dreaming though id never be able to get anything like those. maybe if i had a budget on a project where i could get a high detailed one off of turbosquid

just picked up a really nice car for 160UDS on turbosquid which ill use for most of my closeup shots.

the camera starts from the top possition and flys right under the car.

didnt spend much time on the structure this weekend. spent most of my time converting materials on that car for vray.

the grainyness isnt from the car paint its from the motion blur.

im still modeling the underside of the car. the guy who made the car didnt do that. it looks like its modeled from the images on turbosquid however its just a texture of the cars underside. bummer. but tis still a really nice model though.

What do you think? comming along nicely?

yep …sure is Da_elf

love the BMW looks sexy

looking good 8)

egz-car-paint ?

can somebody tell me what is the egz-car-paint ?

http://www.vray.info
there are a few free scripted vray materials there that are great.
his car paint material is really cool and easy to use

Hey Da_elf..

Nice work ..

Where did you get all these car models from ??

Leo

hey .. elf… sweet like sugar cane…

like i mentioned before. most of the models were collected over time from turbosquid, 3dcafe, 3dsmax CD’s, all sorts of locations. not all are free models but there are still enough free ones out there.

finally able to get back to this project now. Ok. my biggest problem is not being an architect or an engineer. so ive no idea if a structure like this would ever hold up. i still need to add the supports on the weaiting area side of the airport. and ive no real idea how to get the glass roof on. As you can see its a small airport. just about 5 planes at a time. Bottom floor is for arrivals, mid floor departure and top for restaurants and stores.

and here is another update. hope to have the middle section in glass and the outer section will be more solid, still not sure about the waiting area.

just not sure how to get the solid sections on. but hey, its a constant guessing game for me on this project.

I like the buttress looking objects in the parking lot better. Maybe reuse those in the gate area also?

I like the graphic look of it…w/ plain colors…schematic and easy to understand…nice!

Hi Da_Elf,

Looking very interesting. It’s great seeing the image progress in detail. With regards to the architecture, perhaps you can include some tension cables running off some really tall columns, say 25m high, which suspend an arched
roof or something?

If anyone’s after extermely good high res models (and isn’t afraid to pay for it) you should try the Despona Model Bank. There models are the best I’ve seen. They’ve got a whole load of planes fully textured Da_Elf. Unfortunately I can’t remember what the website address is.

Can’t wait to see this animated. Keep 'em coming Da_Elf.
