I have a guy who wants his whole house in a format that he can walk through it. I think he is thinking real-time like in a game. Of course there is Vantage, but there isn’t a standalone viewer, is there? He was insistent that he wasn’t going to pay hosting to view what he already paid for.
Ideas? What happened to that script that you can create a pano along a path? That was cool!
Unreal. I’m looking at porting over the refinery thing I did, so did some tests to see how easy it was going to be.
I didn’t bother converting anything, so it had Vray shaders etc., and it all exported/imported, converting all the shaders, without a hitch, so it’s a simple enough process.
You’d just have to figure out Unreal stuff, which is the obvious challenge as it’ll take a bit of time.
I also had issues with actually compiling a test ‘game’ but that was Windows stuff that I worked out.
So that’s the option I reckon, other than a standard pano thing. Don’t like those…pretty clunky imo.
That or Pano2VR or the collab tour from Chaos themselves. Another thing is gaussian splatting but you’d have to render a lot of images for that. Or if not too difficult to convert, you can use twinmotion and host it there.
Yeah, this guy was a joke. He spent weeks giving me all of these things he wanted. Everything, down to the fact that he wasn’t going to accept a standard contract. He wanted every room, exterior, animation; he wanted to own everything, even the model. Needless to say, he was into the thousands, and he came back with what he was expecting: a couple of hundred dollars. This individual wants to build an elaborate mansion, likely costing $ 5-6 million. He was expecting to pay a couple of hundred dollars for a dozen renderings, a 2-minute animation, and the completed model. Very few things anger me nowadays, but this guy did.
Anyway, this problem needs to be solved. Not ignorant clients, that will never go away; Realtime viewer for clients.
Well the “realtime” applications of Chaos still need rendering as they are all raytraced, Twinmotion or Unreal are your best bets atm.
I created a realtime blockbuilder “game” for a developer in 2 weeks time in Unreal, with the help of Blueprints and ChatGPT and that was a year ago, in the meantime AI has gotten better at these things as well. So the learning curve is a lot less steep these days
