When I produce an AO pass using Material Override and Ambient Occlusion method, every now and then a one or two materials dont get replaced by the override. Not a huge issue, but an issue nontheless.
Re: AO Pass issue
Check your face orientation - I found sometimes with the material override I get black on faces that are reversed. (This was with a dirt material for the override)
Re: AO Pass issue
Also we have an option called “Affected by Override Material”, if this option is disable, the material will be visible in the final render no matter that you have the override material option enable on the “Global Switches”.
Be sure that this option is enable for the material.
Re: AO Pass issue
also, if you don’t have a material applied to a surface, it will have a default material assigned to it, that will not be overridden.
Re: AO Pass issue
where can I find this ‘Affected by Override Material’?
I saw the tutorial of HDRI and sun settings, there was also a render with override materials, but the windows were rendered as windows…

This option is per material. Go to the material editor, select the material, then go to the option section (on the material editor) and you will find the option there.

Then you have an old version. You have to update your V-Ray
