ATI just released OpenCL Drivers, but it is not working with RT GPU

I installed new driwers with opencl support for ati but I dond know if it is not working just for me, but when i start rt gpu it write s me that gi is unsuported and vray just crashes.

I would like to ask if it can be fixed also for ati users, for me it would be nice comparision between ati and nvidia in rt gpu, which is faster..

Any news on the new drivers?

I just downloaded the latest drivers for my 5870, and I have the same thing, says GI unsupported and crashes the vray standalone. I don’t really want to get a Gforce right now, I have enough expenses already, any chance we could get that to work?

Unfortunately the latest drivers still fail to compile the OpenCL code. We’ve sent it to AMD for inspection, hopefully they will come up with something…

Vlado

Thanks Vlado.

Ati today released new Catalist 10.11 but problem is still there - unsupported GI ang vray crash :frowning:

You will have to wait a bit longer… I will let you know as soon as I have more information.

Vlado

Thank you Vlado.

Just to add information..i’m using a laptop with an ATI Mobility HD5730 with catalyst 10.10 installed, and vray RT GPU works fine..it starts and doesn’t crash (vray proxy and displacement disabled for now). I only noticed that :

RT cpu → around 200Kpaths/s (i7-720QM)
Rt gpu → around 200Kpaths/s

Maybe it’s beacuse my graphic card isn’t much powerful compared to my cpu?

WOW, it work on ATI ? OMG OMG OMG  Ati got great 4 gb gpu on market cheap ! muhahha cant w8

on the other hand… RT GPU, can sometimes silently go in to CPU mode… so can u check with evga precision if the gpu is actually working ?

It would be best to try this again with V-Ray RT Beta 3 and the next ATI drivers (or whatever is the equivalent of ATI Streaming SDK 2.3).

Best regards,
Vlado

Haven’t seen it posted yet, but I just tried the 10.12 drivers and it seems to work with my HD5870 card (the 10.11 drivers would just crash as mentioned above)

Though viewport interactivity and general computer interactivity goes way down with it rendering on GPU, even though CPU use in minimal. Viewport and computer responsiveness return to normal if I switch back to CPU RT, even though then CPU goes back up to ~100%

Ah, cool, I have to try those drivers.

good progress.
hurry up AMD.

so now that the radeon 6970 has been made official, is it a better card for rt than the nvidia gtx 580?

Don’t have a clue yet; have to get one of these to test…

Best regards,
Vlado

do you have any idea how the ratio of nvidia cores to radeon stream processors relates to rt gpu speed?
gtx 580 has 512 cores, HD 6970 has 1536 stream processors…

::edit:: sorry vlado - i see you are already being asked this on another thread… just excited that’s all!
