Any insight regarding the new Radeon 6970’s?
Anandtech had an interesting benchmark using SmallLuxGPU based off OpenCL.

$370 for 2gb off the line outperforming a $510 GTX580. Looks like it would make quite an attractive GPU box if only the cards were playing decently with VrayRT.
Are we still waiting for ATi to deliver certain driver tweaks or sdk?
Well, they do have OpenCL drivers that work with V-Ray RT now, but the performance of my 5970 card was far from stellar compared to nVidia cards. Will try to get the 6970 card and see how it goes…

Thanks for the quick reply. If your testing doesn’t reflect the performance in the chart above (5970 still beating the 480/580), then I won’t question if the 6970 proves otherwise. I know, different rendering engines are at play but, just looking for the best bang:buck for an interactive renderbox. 
If u got time w8 2-5 months. Then go for the updates, it will take some time b4 openCL drivers will get good enough to compare ati vs nvidia I guess
