automating animation setup sequence

Ok:
one thing I’d like is to find/setup a script to automate the animation setup sequence between the folowing two steps:

1) seting up an irradiace map to render every N frames

2) then have to manually reset the render to render the whole animation w/ that saved irradiace map.

right now, i have to wait for the irradace map to calc. then manually reset the render to render w/ that imap…the whole anim.

A way to automate that would be really nice!! so you can hit render and it will do that straight through…and one can leave it for the night.

You can easily write a MaxScript for that.

easily…sure…

hehehe…well that’s the problem, I don’t have scripting skills as far as max goes… …otherwise I porbably would’ve.

It is probably not more than 10 lines of scripting and can save you a lot of work… so it may be worth looking into

I was thinking of two methods that might also work to speed this up:

1. incremental add to saved map - so that network rendering could pick up where another left off

2. save to sequential maps - so that imaps could be rendered over the network to seperate machines, each saving their own imap with frame # appended to be merged with imap viewer - or imap viewer like routine
