I’m using 3ds Max 2025 and V-Ray 7, Update 1. I was working on an animation using a scene with V-Ray Scatter when the computer crashed. After the crash, all renders are coming out as black frames. I tested a new scene with just a simple cube and a V-Ray Sun, but it also renders a black frame. The license appears to be working fine. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Odd, with a fresh scene I suppose all the settings are at their default? Did you try a reinstall of V-Ray? Maybe something got corrupted during the crash. Haven’t seen any reports on the forum AFAIR.
Any error messages in the log?
Hi Hermt.crab and Vizioen;
Hi,
I’m attaching today’s V-Ray log. I ran another test using a cube, a physical camera, and a V-Ray sun, without any materials, and I’m still getting a black frame. However, Arnold renders correctly, even when using a V-Ray sun.
I’m currently waiting for support to assist with reinstalling 3ds Max 2025, 2026, and V-Ray 7, updated 1. (I am not the administrator)

Hi Vizioen,
I cannot disable or turn off Embree in V-Ray 7, Update 1. However, according to the forum section and based on my system specs — a 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-13900KF — my CPU should fully support ray tracing
You don’t have to turn it off just make sure that the appropriate redestributables are installed. (Read the thread I linked, something might have screwed the installation of redistributables).
What @Vizioen said. Check post number 5 of the thread he linked.
Thank you, I will do it.
