[Bug Found!] Odd behaviour with Adaptive Dome Light v4.02.05

Hi There,

Came across this odd bug with the new adaptive dome light option from some overnight rendering. With the adaptive dome set to OFF, the networkwork renders came back looking like this (correct behaviour):

But when I turned the adaptive dome light option ON things went bad:

Oddly enough it rendered correctly when I did a local render, just the network backburner renders that were faulty
If you like I can send the scene over for your perusal.

Yes, please.

Hi Peter,

I just emailed you the file

Best regards

@pietervanstee looks somewhat like the speckles you had in your render. Might be related?

The issue here was the use of LC from file, which is not supported with Adaptive Dome light yet.

Is there any useful case anymore, where a saved Light Cache might be used? I feel it is obsolete…

Yes, when rendering animations it’s extremely useful as it takes into account anything that moves (objects, cameras, textures, anything), so for that matter it’s well worth using. We have a script that automates the ‘use camera path’ option and saves it out, and then sends a second render that references this file. It means that with any animation you save a lot of time by rendering the LC just once.

Could be the same indeed, however this was a still.
At the moment the issue seems to be resolved, can’t say exactly what caused it to go away.
