I just realized an issue when using cached files and using VrayPhys Cam (Movie) and MB.
The motion blur is not calculated correct and I am getting really wrong results.
I just don’t want to mention, that motion blur on the phys cam is broken (vray 1.5 latest built)
Tested on cached files from Houdini, Maya and c4d - all referenced.
Is there anything that could fix the motion blur issue ?
There is indeed a problem with the motion blur in the physical camera (the mb interval end points are not calculated properly by the V-Ray for Maya translator); it will be fixed but for the moment you could try using a regular camera instead. Almost all of the effects of the physical camera (except the vignetting) can be done with a standard camera too.
do you mean, that if I am not activating the physical camera, and I just stick to the global settings of the global camera settings, under the camera tab-->MB and DOF.. the calculation is correct ?
I am just asking because we just had a post on the MB effect , and you mentioned it will be fixed for the next nightly built.
I just don’t know if the MB is not working on the Physical camera only, or also when using the general settings.
Please also keep in mind, I am still using vray 1.5 latest nightly built, but rolling on 2.0 over the new year.
I really want to mention that.. all the tests I did so far.. on cached animation files… the motion blur failed.. regardless if phys cam or just the standard vray motion blur.
a very important thing, since I cache all the geo for my current project !
plus.. even when using the velocity pass and testing 2d motion blur.. it doesn’t work, because the source is just calculated wrong..
because this translates into the velocity pass …
