Recently did a big masterplan animation in 3dsmax/vray/vantage - 8GB 3dsmax file
LOTS of chaos scatter objects and proxies.
Live linking wasn’t possible as it simply took too much memory and was too slow or crashed (64 GB Ram, 12 GB RTX 3060)
Vrscene was exported.
So all camera animation was done in Vantage:
Would be great if there’s more options when creating animated camera paths in Vantage, not just straight linear paths.
Rotating around objects or following a custom path down a curvy street would be great!
And of course pre-animated cars/foilage/people, directly available in Vantage would be AWESOME!!!
The idea was that supposedly users can do more complex camera paths in their DCC instead of us trying to reinvent the DCC tools. Apparently there is need for it nevertheless.
In my example that I was discussing some time ago, I had to work with a cameraman/director who did not use or know Max at all and just wanted to use Vantage to plan shots interactively.
We needed to collaborate remotely, where he would establish shots in Vantage and then send me the camera and spreadsheet settings details in order to replicate the cameras
in Max, which was cumbersome and prone to error (with the existing bugs at the time also).
So in a situation like that it would have been incredibly useful for him to have been able to create the exact path that he envisaged, rather than having to use only the simple
moves that it offers.
There are all sorts of other reasons why having better tools is beneficial and time-saving
