Caustics problem - turn on and reflection of other light disappear (bug?)

Hi,

I have this weird problem in VRay Next. I tried caustics in interior after some time. Caustics is fine, but when is enabled, reflection of other lights disappear. But only plane light, sphere light is ok. Look at pictures please, light source is hidden, but reflection is turned on and shoud be there. Please read the comments below pictures to understand. Can you fix this or am I doing something wrong?

And one more thing: when direct visualization for caustics is on, still cant see anything while caustics calculation, but in final rendering caustics is there.

I’d say your best bet would be to write to Chaos group directly and ask for their help. They will willingly help you in the matter.

I have tested your scene. This is a known issue and it is logged into our bug tracker. Specular from Plane Light is not calculated when Caustics and GI are on. I will notify you, when there is any progress with that.

Since this issue still has not been addressed and no workarounds have been offered, I’ll offer mine:

The issue seem to manifest only for V-Ray Lights in “Plane” or “Disc” modes. Use “Mesh” mode instead and connect a mesh with an identical shape and proportions to the plane light you’re going for.

This will give you the exact same effect as a regular plane light, though you will lose some Plane Light features like making it directional or with no decay…
