---------------------------------------------------------
Chaos Group is happy to announce its participation in Siggraph 2007. August 7th to 9th our team will be happy to welcome you at booth #221 at the San Diego Convention Center.
We will be presenting:
- V-Ray 1.5 and beyond
- V-Ray for Maya, V-Ray for XSI, V-Ray standalone ports as well as the V-Ray for Rhino by ASGVIS.
- PDPlayer – Come and see the revolutionary sequence player at work!
This year Chaos Group will hold its User Event at
The Westin Horton Plaza San Diego
Ballroom
August 7th, 6:00pm
Thanks Vlado, Peter, Niki and the guys from ASGVIS for putting together the show. The attendance may have been a bit light, but you guys are getting a lot of attention!
Shown at the event:
VRay 1.5 Final build is now available, it does require the new dongle licensing system.
I can’t even name all the new features added, but some of them are:
New subsampling method to replace the QMC algorithms that should give a speed boost
New Irradiance Map mode for animated objects, lights, etc… much faster than brute-force QMC GI
VRay Edge Texture can be used in bump slots to create chamfered edges at rendertime
VRay lights can now use IES files, they also have new affect specular, diffuse, and direct checkboxes.
VRay lights now have a shadows on/off checkbox for physically unreal work.
VRay Frame Buffer can now save directly to EXR. No need to go to VRayIMG first.
VRay Proxies and VRay Lights now generate motionblur
A new Geometry Memory Mode (Static/Dynamic) called Auto will make heavy and instanced objects behave as Dynamic Geometry. This should really help the ArchViz people on heavy scenes with lots of objects avoid memory-related crashes.
Backburner submitted jobs can use DR
Slaves that were not available at the start of a DR job can now automatically join a DR already in progress (as long as they were selected before hand).
If you turn on the “Check for missing paths” then DR slaves won’t render buckets if they can’t find the necessary files.
VRay Cameras now have clipping
The Vignetting setting on the VRay Cam can now be adjusted.
And much much more that I can’t remember now…
VRay for Maya was also shown, it has almost all the features ready that can be found in VRay for Max.
VRay for Sketchup and VRay for Rhino were also shown. The implementation there is a bit weaker, not everything from 1.5 is implmented yet.
VRay Standalone looked very promising. Not much of it was shown, but Vlado did show real-time scene rendering utilizing PPT. This was for moving a camera around an otherwise static scene - but still, very very impressive.
Chaos also showed off a new product which they esitmated to be available in about a month. PDPlayer is a image sequence player (like loading an image sequence in QuickTime or Max RAM Player). It has some basic compositing features and timeline tools. It is completely resolution independent, and ran very very very fast.
