Hi guys, I’m having an issue with the Hair and Fur modifier and Corona Hair Material. I can’t seem to apply a texture to the hair on my rug.
I need to create a close-up shot of the rug, so I need detailed, textured fibers. I’m trying to plug a texture map into the Diffuse slot of the Corona Hair Material, then assign this material to the Hair and Fur (WSM) modifier and enable “Use Material,” but it doesn’t work at all. What is the correct workflow for this? I’m pretty sure I was able to do this without any problems about six years ago, but now I just can’t get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
[This thread](https://forum.corona-renderer.com/ Hair and Fur Map Issues ) is still valid, so the only workarounds are:
- put the bitmap in “tip color” and “root color” (and set their colors to white) - unfortunately, then you don’t get all the material parameters such as roughness, bump, etc
or - use Ornatrix
In any case, 3ds Max Hair and Fur is ancient and slow and it probably doesn’t make sense to use it at all.
I wonder why do Chaos so stubbornly refuses to add support for Vray fur in Corona. I mean Corona positions itself as archviz renderer and Vray fur is a perfect tool for archviz. IMO, it’s not fair to suggest Ornatrix to people who mostly want to render more realistic carpets and rugs. Please add Chaos fur to Corona at last.

Totally agree, just last night i was fighting with the hair and fur native max, Its SO slow, i need to turn it off just to continue with the interactive render and finish the scene..
