loving Cosmos assets, such an incredible inclusion.
Is there a way to automatically make my Cosmos assets not to show textures in the viewport?
context: I’m facing a problem in all my scenes that whenever I hit the 6 key to see textures in viewport Maya will freeze if I have a couple dozen Cosmos assets or more… this until all the textures load (often 100+ assets)
I imagine this must be because the video card tries to load high resolution textures for each of the assets, creating a bottleneck.
Try disabling Arnold (mtoa.mll) from the Maya Plug-In manager and see if that makes a difference. There’s a known conflict between V-Ray and Arnold around .tx textures (they handle them differently).
You can also try setting the Viewport shader quality (Render Settings > Settings > VRay UI > Viewport shader quality) to “low”, but this will affect the whole scene.
I’ve had Arnold already uninstalled for a while and that has solved a bunch of other problems, but unfortunately not this one.
I’ll try out the low setting but I do often need to have texture on shaded for some of the characters or normal non-cosmos scene assets. I’ll be testing that and hopefully it’s still a +. Thank you again!
