I am facing an annoying problem with VRay RT 2.40.04 on 3ds max Design 2013 x64: it only works on “cpu” type mode. If I switch to “CUDA (single kernel)” type mode, it crashes. Here is what’s written in “V-Ray RT render server window”:
Querying for CUDA devices
Warning: Environment variable VRAY_OPENCL_PLATFORMS_x64 not found - using all available devices
Device GeForce GTX 580 has compute capability 2.0
Driver API error : 999
Driver API error : 201
I see the graphic device is GTX 580, what is the exact Nvidia driver version installed ?
Do you get the same error with very simple scene setup, just a box for an example?
Is the card listed in our OpenCl device selector?
Program file\Chaos Group\ V-Ray Rt for 3DS max..\Select OpenCL devices..
Hi,
The driver version is 9.18.13.2018 (May 12th 2013) according to the windows device manager. I know it is not the very last one but it used to work fine until few days ago so I never felt the need to update it.
I get the same error with just a simple box in the scene.
And yes, my GTX 580 is listed in the OpenCL devices selector.
I see that the Nvidia driver (May 12th 2013) is a beta, would it be possible to install a stable one, form the NVIDIA Driver Downloads web site?
Also before doing any RT renders, try to delete all .CLBIN files located in the local Temp folder (%temp%).
Sure: can you please tell me what nVidia driver version exactly I have to install ?
Also, for the .CLBIN files: I didn’t find any on my computer but maybe I didn’t searched in the right places. Can you tell me what temp folder I have to look into ?
Could you try to install GeForce 320.18 driver and if you still has problems with RT/GPU, please drop us an email to support@chaosgroup.com.
So we can do a remote session and investigate directly on your machine, if it’s convenient for you.
