I’ve just received a new workstation, installed 3dsmax and vray and all works perfectly except the Vray RT Gpu.
A Nvidia Quadro 4000 in installed on it and I’d like to make some test, so before starting 3dsmax I’ve launch “Set OpenCL device for V-ray RT”, there’s just Quadro 4000 and click on “Set Devices”. All set correctly.
Finally I’ve started 3dsmax and launch RT Gpu, the Render Server starts automatically but soon an error window appear “V-Ray Standalone has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available”
While if I register V-ray RT Render server as a service any Error Window appears, but the Active Shader remains Black on “waiting for image data…”
The new workstation has Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, 3dsmax 2011 and the latest V-ray version 2.10.01, and a Nvidia Quadro 4000.
Hi Vlad - is there going to be any solution to this incompatibility ? Some of us need to use the latest drivers with our other GPU rendering software and it is a problem to have to use old drivers. I have been unable to use Vray GPU for a long time now - is there no workaround to get it working with the latest Nvidia drivers ? I currently have 280.26 installed but would gladly switch to 285.27 if that will help ?
It seems to be a Vray + Nvidia problem. If the bug is that “deep”, then how come I can render with other commercial GPU engines without any glitches ? It seems there is an incompatibility between Vray RT GPU & Nvidia current release.
